Hi cyclechatters,

I have put a new chain on an old Raleigh. I don’t have the old chain.
How do I gauge the correct length of chain? It’s probably a bit loose at the moment.
Also, new shifting cables are going on. Any tips/things to beware of would be greatly appreciated!

thanks in advance,

See my comments on that thread. It's an SR Sakae btw, and 'entry level' is unkind, imo. A UN-300 BB (correct length spindle) will be a good replacement if the BB is rough, though a good clean out might do it.
Recommend replacement of the outers as well as inner cables (especially the loop to the RD).
