Chain Maintenance?

I know about the lengthy procedure for cleaning and lubricating a chain every once in a while, but what's the standard chain maintenance procedure at the end of a ride, especially if it gets wet?

Wipe it and lube it

I don't bother after each ride on my commute, unless for some reason the bike has got extra dirty in which case the weekly clean and lube gets done earlier.
