Your chain will probably have a quick link, if you can undo that you can remove the chain. The proper tool for undoing this is special quick link pliers, but you can also undo it with needle nose pliers or even by hitting it with a rock if you have the knack (which I don't, so I'll leave it to others to explain it)

If you're going to replace the chain you could ignore the quick link and just drive a rivet out with a chain tool. You'll also need a chain tool to cut a new chain to length.

Below are examples. These are Park tools so are at the pricey end of things.

As @Dogtrousers says above.
Is it the front or rear derailleur?
Did you have a spill, to break the derailleur?

Might be better in this case to just take it to your Lbs and they can check nothing else has been broken/bent.

If front changer, you don't need to break the chain. The chain cage/guide on the FD will come apart of you undo the allen nuts/bolts and the FD easily removed.

But what is broken? The FD is such a simple mechanism, that very little can go wrong with it. More likely it has just got a bit twisted or the cables need adjusting.

Research and think before you start dismantling.

Have you not managed to remove the remains of the bolt? Could you post some pictures of the current state of the derailleur?

oh he didn’t say, it’s as rare as hens teeth breaking a front one.
This comes from a previous thread in the beginners section. He broke the clamp bolt, and has been advised to get a replacement bolt instead of getting a whole new derailleur, we haven't seen photos, so we don't know exactly what is going on.
