Ok so whats with my new chain splitter....the bloody chain did the splitting an broke the tool...please someone recommend a decent bit of kit !
I will get one, it looks more business like than the one l had.I use one of these http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bike-maintenance/bike-tools/topeak-universal-bike-chain-tool
cheap enough and small enough to put in your emergency kit
What bit of the tool broke?
It was the pin, maybe l was being a bit careless .What bit of the tool broke?
I think you "hit the nail on the head" l wasn't careful enough !Had you got the breakers pin correctly aligned with the pin in the chain, sometimes takes 2 or 3 goes to hit it correctly for me, if they're not in line you're trying to compress steel and the chain tool will always lose.
Will do on both counts !Say sorry to the chain tool. A bad workman.....
That looks great, and with a spare pin....so lm not the first person to snap one !
Sadly, I think recent Cyclo Rivoli tools (on the black/red/white backing card) are made of cheese - and don't come with a spare pin, either. I switched to Park Tool and so far, so good.My Rivoli came with a spare pin![]()
Thanks for the info. l will see if l can get one locally or more likely eBayi use one of these and i am sure you can buy new pins
