chain suck

Hi,
My bike , a scott sportster has been diagnosed with chain suck after approx 1000 miles and in need of chain, chain rings and freewheel.
My question is , although i have religiously cleaned and lubed the bike is it normal for this amount of wear after these miles and the bike is only 9 months old.
I use it for commuting and ride on a mixture of both roads and light cross country gravelled areas ?

Any giudance would be much appreciated

unfortunately yes it can be. some people on here have had to change chains with a little as 300 miles on. either buy a chain gauge or learn the 12 inch method. replacing a chain when required is cheaper than waiting for chain suck. i, like you, had to learn the hard (expensive) way.
