Changing bars / stem help

I want to change the bars on my wife's Viva Bellisimo, but I'm stumped before I begin! How do i take these bars off, and will taking them off magically reveal to me what size stem to get!?

Any help gratefully received!

I think I've got it! It was pretty simple. I just need a thread less stem now if I'm right?

Just check it's 1 and 1/8th inch. That's the most common.

And possibly add a few spacers (or cut the steerer down). It looks like the stem / bar combo you have is 'taller' than a normal a-head stem.

Had any one tried to change bar on race bike to the hybrid type of bar? What you think how would that looks ?

Looks are subjective. You'll need new brake levers and shifters and probably a new stem to get the right position. I have a bike that is normally fitted with drops that I have flat bars on:
