I welcome the gradual changes in the forum which have enabled us to personalise the forum by hiding sections which don't interest us.There is no significance as far as I can see in where different topics are positioned on the index page and certainly no need for lengthy scrolling down if you just exclude the sections which don't appeal. You could try just clicking on New Posts, instead of scrolling down the Index page.
See this posting, the title explains (almost) all!.

At last! Goodbye SCP, Commuting, and 35 other sub forums .

To get to the Cafe, which must be the most frequented spot, one has to scroll all the way down now which is frustrating as it takes several scrolls.
I've got to say, I think the cafe should be where it is, out of the way. The regular visitor will know where it is, and can always bookmark it. Someone browsing into these forums because they are interested in cycling does not want to read a lot of insider jokes that have nothing to do with cycling; it's the sort of thing that would make you leave a forum straight away. If they join and hang around long enough, they will definitely find their way there.

No one can take opinions away from people, I do get that, but the point about the Cafe section is that it hasn't moved but a hundred billion other sections have sprung up in front of it where once there were half a dozen or so, and judging by the frequentedness of the Cafe that is arse-about-face. Example -- you go on CC any time of day or night, like yesterday 3am (yes I do test these things), there's almost always a "1 minute ago" for the most recent Cafe post. No other section is so well-attended.

I still don't buy the logic of "General and road cycling". Either road cycling is an ilk of its own, qua Hybrids or MTBing, or it isn't.

Not that I don't massively appreciate the work Shaun does and has done but I don't know what the Mods contribute and further, the concept of "if you don't like it you know where to go" is not one I'm supportive of. I'm reminded of the quotation on the Thai restaurant menu I'm going to tonight...

A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption in our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider in our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing us a favour by giving us an opportunity to do so” . (Ghandi)

A discussion similar to this one took place some years ago on a 4x4 forum I frequent. It ended up with the site owner telling them to have a go themselves if they think they can do better, and promptly banning them.

The gent in question took the advice to heart, and now his forum is the biggest in the World for that model of truck, and the original forum gets barely any hits.

You are making my point for me. Despite being hidden away, it's still busy. There'd by no advantage to Shaun to move it. Less popular fora need to be more obvious, to draw visitors eyes.

And, again, no one new to CC would have any interest in the Cafe.

A large number of us arrived on mass when we didn't like the way that changes were imposed on us on another forum. I've not had that feeling here. That doesn't mean that we can dictate how the forum develops, but that we feel that our opinions are listened to and sometimes change occurs as a result.

It's been explained why the changes have occurred and how you can put sections on ignore if you want. Why not give it a chance to see how it goes, or use the New Posts option. I'm usually resistant to change myself but this one has mostly not affected me other than in some modding duties as I use the New post option

I hate those notices - I honestly think that businesses that need to post up stuff like that have lost the plot.

Not saying they aren't great at customer service btw.

Were you one of the guests yesterday when you came on at 3am. Don't think you'd have been one of the BingBots viewing this thread.
