Trouble is, I have fiddled with it and it's now displaying a random time that has got nothing to do with what I tried to change it to!

I have resisted the urge for my twice yearly winge about having to change the clocks (you can not change time) twice a year.

I've just spent 5 minutes randomly pushing buttons on the oven to get it to conform. This is mostly the reason it wasn't telling the correct time in the first place. The car is next.
Fortunately most things seem to sort themselves out now.

My phone doesn't. But then it isn't "smart"

I've just stopped my clockwork one (no not the phone) so as to set it going again after an hour (they don't like moving backwards I'm told)

You should try resetting a hungry Labradors internal clock. It takes weeks.
