changing to sti

hello im doing a bit of homework into fitting sti shifters,as i dont want to spend 200euro on a set and then find i cant fit them,ive studied shimano installation guides and it seems staight forward enough except for a couple of things,is there a barrel adjuster for front derailer or how do i adjust cable tension,also what are the outer stoppers for and how do these attach to the down tube,they look like there stuck to the tube somehow,thankyou for any advice

Those stoppers on the downtube should have the barrel adjusters in them. Or you can fit in-line barrel adjusters if you wish. The downtube fittings should fit dirctly to the downtube - like the old levers used to I think. Unless you have brazed on threaded cable guides, in which case you just screw in your barrel adjusters.
