I'll be getting a Charge Spoon, just curious to know which clothing makes it comfortable? Or is casual clothes alright?

What do you wear when you ride on yours?

Cheers.

Padded bib shorts. But just changed the spoon to a Spesh Romin as the spoon gave me numbnuts

Not a clue as I've just fitted a Spoon on my commuter this weekend and not ridden it yet.

First ride tomorrow. I usually wear Ron Hill Bikesters that have no padding on my commuter so I'll see how it goes.

I only have a short commute, and TBH I've done it on my CAAD with it's Fizik Arione saddle in the past without padding so I'm sure the Spoon will be OK.

Watch this space.

FWIW Tomba's comment is the first negative one I've ever read about the Charge Spoon.

It's made by Velo (as are Boardman saddles et al...) and the same as the saddle fitted to the Giant Defy, just a posher cover. I have a white one on my Raleigh Avanti and a black Giant branded one on my Defy. My WTB Rocket V on the MTB is more comfy though.

Thats not so much a negative for the saddle just the shape of my fat arse

Other than the numbnuts it is a comfortable saddle. Probably slightly more comfy than the Spesh but the numbness was worrying on longer rides thats why I changed.

I dont have a problem wearing casual gear with the spoon
I wear cycling clothes if out with other people who wear them, but not because I need padded shorts to be comfy.. just so I wont be the odd one out
Its a great saddle

I have one on the Orbea, and bought another one last week ready for the new bike when it turns up.

I've a Spoon on my MTB, which never gets ridden with cycling shorts and is fine for up to 8 hours a day (which is more than can be said for my legs after 8 hours off tarmac).

My Tricross also has a Spoon, and I've spent even longer days than that in the saddle without cycling shorts and without issues.

IMO, it only takes a few rides to break your bum into most saddles, certainly enough for a couple of hours use without needing padded shorts.

I have the Spoon and never use padded shorts of any kind. Usually a combination of either close fitting boxers or briefs and then heavy cotton shorts or lycra type running tights on top. This is good for rides of 60-100 miles so far with very little soreness. My 10 mile each way commute is a breeze on this saddle and after the 100 mile forum ride I did yesterday I would have had no hesitation to jump straight back in the saddle and ride the 30+ miles home or done the work commute if needed.
