Been a little while since I have posted but as am doing a cycling event in a few weeks I would really love some suggestions for a cheap handlebar computer so that I can upload the route from Komoot and follow on the day. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in anticipation

I've just got an Edge Explore 2 and already I do not like it. It is supposed to be straight forward to set up but it is not. My Wahoo (sadly deceased) was much more user friendly.

I like my Edge Explore 2, but I'm not sure it meets the "cheap" requirement.

Bryton are quite simple and cheap, operation is a bit clunky. Found mine to be very reliable unlike previous garmins

My solution to this is to buy the cheapest sim-free smartphone you can find. Leave it sim free, connect it to your wi fi to plan routes and then off you go.

I've done this without problems for the last three years.

Battery life is good (6 hours plus) because you're not running anything else on the phone.
Yes, it's more fragile than a purpose built device, but how often do you crash your bike?
I find the screen brightness plenty good enough.

Back in 2017, when I began to make an effort to cycle for fitness on top of commuting and popping to shops, I was recording my rides on a Nexus 7 2013 tablet I'd had for 2+ years but had no idea it had GPS to record rides on the Strava app... Not mounted on the bike, but tucked away in my jesey/jacket rear pocket.

After then buying a cheap Sony Smart Watch 3, which was a nightmare to get a GPS lock to begin recording rides on apps including Strava and Ghostracer Pro, I finally bit the bullet and bought a Lezyne Y10 Super Pro in summer '17.

Beeline all day long….literally. Battery life is phenomenal. Very clear screen, easy to follow. Very limited in what ist does. But what it tries to do it does extremely well.
