The 3 machines that my card had been used in the week before this latest problem were ticket machines at Leighton Buzzard and Todmorden stations, and an ATM near my sister's house in Coventry. I always examine machines to see if they have false fronts and card scanners added, but I didn't spot anything. If the fraudsters did it that way then they had made a very convincing replica of it!

The ATM across the road in Coventry got done a couple of years ago. I think the Coventry ATM might be the source of the problem. I wonder if things have improved since this article 5 years ago - watch out @dave r!

There's been very little talk of cash machine fraud here lately, personally I tend to use the same cash points and petrol stations most of the time. Interesting link here.

https://haveibeenpwned.com. apparently one of my E-Mail addresses was compromised in 2016.

I bet the people behind the 3,204 recently breached Bestialitysextaboo accounts are nervously awaiting the blackmail messages now!

The big question with this is what do I do about the compromised E-Mail account, deleting it is not going to be easy.

I understand your problem - I have several old accounts which I would rather shut down but many hundreds of people/organisations use them and I could never be sure that I had updated everyone who mattered!

The biggest problem is the large archive that's attached to it, it's not an account I use a lot now so I can move most of it to other addresses, its the archive that's going to be a challenge.

One ALMOST has to admire their ingenuity!

There was another mob who put an ordinary skimmer on one of a bank of card machines outside Tesco in Durham.

Cheeky buggers disabled all the other machines with Superglue to drive traffic to their skimmed one.

The banks are partly to blame for a lot of the problems.
The bombard you with junk mail, emails and phone calls.
How can you tell which are genuine?
I got a letter from TSB thanking me for registering for text alerts.

I hadn't.
Phoned them , and they said they were required to register me for them , then I can cancel.

But that's not what the letter said.

Wrote and asked them to clarify.
They insist they have acted properly, no mistake made etc.

I don't think they even listened to me or read my letter.

Why thank me for registering , when I did not ?
