That must be one of the most crass replies I have seen on CC
Tend to agree, and yet again a thread is diverted into personal bickering.
That's partly my fault for replying, so I will say no more about it.

http://news.stv.tv/scotland/110906-chip-pans-the-cause-of-one-tenth-of-house-fires-in-scotland/Whilst driving this week I have heard a number of radio advert features about the dangers of chip pan fires, and the risk of fires starting caused by people returning home drunk and chucking on chip pans.
It struck me as strange as I had thought that chip pan fires would be on the decline, as I did not think chip pans were too common nowadays.
A quick search of google proves I was wrong, and they remain one of the (if not the) most common cause of house fires and casualties.
No real reason for starting this thread other than to share.
Actually, it says:http://news.stv.tv/scotland/110906-chip-pans-the-cause-of-one-tenth-of-house-fires-in-scotland/
One in Ten killed by them in house fires, North of the border!
Actually, it says:
It is also from July 2012 and further states:
A Scottish Government spokesman said: "The number of house fires related to chip or fat pan fires has reduced by more than two-thirds since 2001/02, which we believe indicates an improving awareness of the danger of fire in our homes.
