Here for rides.
your cat is called Gary?
The Girl has one of those for her cats. I was disappointed to find that (a) it couldn't be controlled from a smart phone and (b) you can't just assign an IPv6 address to the moggy and get it to read that. (insert joke about Cat5 cable here)We've one for our 3 moggies, they took a while to learn how to use it but they've all mastered it eventually.

although our cats were chipped,.as decreed by the domestic authorities, but to be honest I'm not sure I see.the point. if cat does sadly come to grief then chip does no good , and adult cats at least don't tend to get lost, unless they choose to get new lodgings for their own reasons .
It does sometimes work. The first one my son got [known as Bigpuss since he's overly large] disappeared one night. He was found 4 miles away 5 months later breaking into houses and stealing their animals' food. The chip meant we were contacted as we'd registered him missing.
Yup. I wanted Dave, but was out-voted.your cat is called Gary?
He's had his chips, for sure.Yup. I wanted Dave, but was out-voted.
Looks like Gary's back to the vet next week for another chip then.....
I think the same happened to my BigCat (better name then BigPuss imhoWe had a cat turn up, hanging around the garden and eating our cats food. Took him to the vets and found out his owner had gone into a old folks home and he had been turned out. We now have an extra cat.
Hang on, I'll go and look... It's a Sure Flap one.... it was £70 [Edit: it's exactly the same as Batoo's Amazon one]. We bought it from one of the chain Pet Warehouse stores on the Team Valley Retail Park in Gateshead.Off topic; where did you get it from and how much please?
We're looking at a cat flap, if only to save one of them waking me at 5.30am and the other leaving puddles, but haven't found one. And given the number of cats in the area a chip-reading cat flap seems sensible.
That's exactly how Desmond came to live over the road from us.We had a cat turn up, hanging around the garden and eating our cats food. Took him to the vets and found out his owner had gone into a old folks home and he had been turned out. We now have an extra cat.
