Vernon the new cafe sells pies.I think they only had three types, pork, pork with mushy pea filling and the third i have forgotten.Nice latte though oh and flapjack.
I'm a bit precious when it comes to pie buying. I try to buy from butchers. With only two exceptions, Malton and Northallerton, I have yet to have purchased a satisfactory pie from a deli or bakers.
I will get around to sampling a pie or two from them, I can't condemn them without trying them but I draw the line at buying a coffee there - I can't bring myself to buy lattes or any fancy named coffees anywhere. They are poor value.
While the cost of the coffee served in a medium-sized £2.20 cappuccino is just 8p, the total cost of the cup, lid, stirrer, napkin and sugar amounts to 16p.
I'm currently drinking a coffee made from Aldi ground coffee in a Bialetti - made in less time that it would take to walk to the cafe and back and costing pence to make leaving me a quid or two to put towards my chocolate fund.
