It had finished by the time I clicked, Moonlight!!

I don't know the brand well but I do have a creek to peak rackbag and I love it - it's been an excellent buy - so I'd go for it...(next time it's on ebay)

Yeah, that particular one finished months ago. It's an ebay shop, they are constantly re-listing them.

Thanks Cathryn!

I'm going for price-capacity ratio..

This looks very good:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=280235792277&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=018
(Capacity 48 litre, price £33)

But I'm not sure, is it poor quality? Any suggestions are welcome, should I just get Altura jobby from Wiggle?

Thank guys, I love this forum.

I can not comment on the Creek to Peak panniers but I've been more than happy with my Altura Arran rear panniers and my Halford cheap from panniers.

Ok, well then, the C2Ps are cheaper than those form halfords, and have a larger capacity, and there is no chance that they can be worse quality than halford's ones, surely? Therefore my logic runs.....I should get them!

Both are good value, but the C2Ps still have a lot more capacity/£.. and based Cathryn's assertion that creak2peak are a decent brand I think I'm gunna have to go for them.

Thank you for your suggestions all.

The probikekit ones look very similar to some I saw in a Swiss sports shop. The C2P ones seem very expensive (79.99). I did see them here in the small size for 28.99 for a pair which sounds good http://www.ukbikestore.co.uk/Produc...k-challenger-front-pannier-24-litre-pair.html

If you end up paying 80 quid I would go for Ortliebs

Until you use them the quoted size is only a guide. Some are hard to close if you use them to capacity, others (like rolltops) allow you to stuff them a fair bit beyond, some have space for wet weather gear under the lid but not actually in the pannier.
IMO the £37/40ltr ones from Probikekit look better, the twin straps make it more likely to be able to put stuff under the lid and they’re made of a waterproof material rather than relying on a rain cover.
Then again, if I was going round the word I’d invest in something better, if I wasn’t I wouldn’t contemplate 48ltr panniers.

Hi there,

First post, although I have been "lurking" for a while.

I have also been looking to buy a set of panniers and these are the best price/capacity ratio (54 litres for £36) I have found so far:
http://shop.2wheelsonly.co.uk/agu-ventura-140-rear-pannierset-540-p.asp

They don't have the roll-down tops that P.H recommends, though.
P.H would you mind clarifying your comment "If I wasn’t [going around the world] I wouldn’t contemplate 48ltr panniers"? Is 48L a large capacity?

I should maybe have added a smiley, as I know some on here will disagree, but IMO 48ltrs is huge. If you're carrying that much kit it would be better, again IMO, to spread it about a bit.

48 is not that huge!

I had 2 rear Ortliebs at 40l per pair and 2 front at 25l per pair, and still had the tent strapped on the rack. With my new smaller tent I could have got away with the tent in a pannier I think. But 65l is not that much!

Maursh, it may be a personal thing but I would avoid the "all in one" style you showed from Agu on the grounds of bieng a real fiddle to get on and off, or indeed to carry around. If I did not have the Ortliebs already and wanted a cheapish option, the probikekit ones look good. Always a good idea to use a "bag for life" as a liner - it also makes packing and unpacking in the evening quite a bit easier
