This morning my son drove me to work as he coming to my work place to meet some of the governors and get to see what we do, he has an interview next tuesday for a job. But I digress. He had the Chris Moyles show on the car radio and in the 30 minutes from the time he came on the air he didn't play one music track. Now I thought Radio 1 was a cutting edge youth station, but all he broadcast was inane banter with his co-presenter about their new mobile phones. Is this what he or R1 is about? I also found the banter not funny, amusing or useful in any meaningful way. Am I just to old or is Mr Moyles an opinionated twit?

You might not have heard any songs, but chances are you heard a few jingles.

Chris Moyles writes his jingles with a company called Music 4, who then manage the licensing rights. So every time Moyles plays one of those jingles, the BBC pay Music 4 £15, which in turn goes back to Moyles. £15 may not sound much, but multiply it by every jingle on every show and you're looking at about £75,000 per year on top of his salary.

Who needs talent when being an objectionable eejit pays so well.

He did just after 6.30am play a jingle which was more of a song and seem to go for ages about the Chris Moyles wednesday breakfast show.

Ah, now I'd say that this was your first mistake (not changing channels would be your second  ) and I'd also say that thinking that marks you out as being somewhere within 5 years of your half century.

Radio 1 was only ever a poor attempt to recreate the excitement and originality of the offshore stations. I don't feel it ever got close. At least with internet radio we can get some decent music station nowadays over here, though I'd love a return of the pirates.
