I'm merely pointing out the demographics, IMO there is massive listening potential between radio 1 and 2, I still can't really listen to radio 2 without falling asleep or sighing at the daily wail esque callers on Jeremy vine. Radio 1 just does my head in, music on a loop, same rubbish everyday and presenters who are afraid to admit they are past it, unfortunately for them there isn't a radio station to operate as an intermediatary between 1 and 2.

^ This.

Totally agree. Haven't listened to R1 for years, tried R2 but I share Glover Fan's views. Got fed up of Colonel Cholmely-Warner ringing in to Jeremy Vine, declaring that hanging is too good for them. Enjoyed R5L but Victoria Derbyshire got on my wick so it's Talksport these days. You've just got to put up with the ads, and Goughie.

He did just after 6.30am play a jingle which was more of a song and seem to go for ages about the Chris Moyles wednesday breakfast show.

That is the daily cheesy song, it is the show's introduction and changes every day. Best bit of it some would say.

That's how it works. Whoever writes music which is broadcast get paid each time.

I quite like listening to him. It's easy, better than Chris Evans, and lighter than radio 4 if I'm not in the mood.

He is ok, if you are just vegetating in bed, but you don't want to think about it too much, seeing as it is really meant for kids.

That said:
he didn't think much of him.

Yes, I've got bored with him quite quickly, and the last time I did listen to him was the day after Cav had won his green jersey in the TDF.

What mention did it get?

Nothing, other than as an afterthought at the end of the Sports bit on the news. Even some very minor Vegball match got more coverage

Just a simple 'Well done' would have done, but, no, they couldn't have cared less because it wasn't football or F1

I haven't listened to him since.

quite!
also he entertains about 7.5 milion listeners i believe so a £ a listener, and the forethought and ability to write jingles and music parodies but hey lets be british and knock someone who is successful. whether you like him or not he is successful and he also regularly discusses his fitness and weightloss regime a good example to todays youth? yes i am sure someone will come up with something that is distatseful about him , but we can do that about alot of people in the public eye, hey what about footballers- tevez anyone?

By all means fair play to the guy, he must have at least some talent to get to where he is, but I wish he'd actually show it a bit more other than just writing jingles for the fishbowl called Radio 1 and doing 52 hour long shows for Comic Relief.

They are overly childish because they are so much older than their own demographic that they over-compensate for the age gap.

I always feel as though I am evesdropping on some teenagers, except they aren't teens, they are grown adults.

Radio ?

I don't think I've listened to the radio since the invention of the internet.

I still have a wonderful Sony world-band radio I used to take all over the world so I could listen to the BBC, but since English language TV appeared in every hotel room, the internet became available in every coffee shop and I stopped travelling every week then I don't switch on the radio from one month to the next.

How much do you want for yer radio?

I usually end up listening to the World Service for the latest news, but, of course, it gets rather tedious at times too

Even he agrees about the playlist on R1 though, at least it's not Key103 with their 'Rihanna-Gaga-Katy Perry medley on continuous loop all bloody day long

I only listen to Moyles or R4 now, bit of difference I know

Chris Moyles and Alan Carr I could happily shoot. It would be a mercy killing, mercy for the rest of us.
+1  and Mel Sykes should go back to provocatively advertising beer

his audiences have shrunk to the lowest level ever, while Chris Evans has steamed ahead. And it's not even a Radio 1 thing - overall the station is higher than it has been since 1999 - only the Breakfast Show underperforming

I hate it when I go into a shop and they've got one of those local radio stations on playing glue-sniffer music. I am officially a curmudgeon. It's Radio 4 in the morning for me, then Radio 2. Unless Zoe fekkin Ball is sitting in for Ken Bruce and Vanessa fekkin Feltz is doing the Jeremy Vine show. When they're on I'd rather have the glue-sniffing music stations.

I've got nothing against Zoe Ball per se, but the mucking up of pop-popmaster this week was annoying!

Zoe Ball does me head in! She is a vacuum with nothing to say. And Vanessa Feltz and her 'Listen with Mother' tone drives me round the bend.
Yes, I know. I need to get out more...
