I'm merely pointing out the demographics, IMO there is massive listening potential between radio 1 and 2, I still can't really listen to radio 2 without falling asleep or sighing at the daily wail esque callers on Jeremy vine. Radio 1 just does my head in, music on a loop, same rubbish everyday and presenters who are afraid to admit they are past it, unfortunately for them there isn't a radio station to operate as an intermediatary between 1 and 2.
As for commercial regional. Don't even go there.
You are spot on there.
We are in our 50's and have very contemporary music tastes - we like a lot of the music you hear on 'One' but 'Two' is a dullathon - playing music that was rank when released or even if it was good 'back then' it should be locked in a vault and sealed for posterity. Sometimes the past is best left in the past.
Radio One daytime is utter cack - just boring, boring, boring celebrity gossip, pranks that would be an embarrassment in the playground of an infant school and the drivel spouted by the presenters about there eating habits, toilet habits and there *loody lives in general is beyond tedium.
I guess it goes down well with the Top Gear and We Like Million Dollar Drop Because Davina Is So On Trend crowd.
I do recognise that I am not the target audience.
Radio One, without the inane drivel and constant phone us/text us about eg the last curry you ate; that appeals to sad buggers wanting their moment of fame, would do just fine.
