My only Action Man was KIA at Torquay's only multi story car park. My dad and I had travelled there specially to try my sky diving variant in the late 70s.
We parked the mighty Vauxhall Viva on the very top level, (it probably struggled with the ramps) and went to the guard rail and carefully checked no one was anywhere in sight down below.
Dad hurled my brave little warrior up into the void.
I think he managed to say, "Any moment now son, the parachute will open" at least three times. Needless to say, it didn't.
Arms, legs and head fired off in different directions leaving just the torso with a still undeployed parachute strapped to its back.
We couldn't afford therapy. My mum tried her best with odd pieces of elastic from her sewing box. Alas, I had the only action man who suffered involuntarily muscle spasms. The impact played havoc with is 'eagle eyes' as well. The shame of having the only boss-eyed action man was hard to take.
