It's a bit more complicated than that...

Rachel Whiteread. I like what she does for the same reason I rather like the Lloyd's Building, even if Lloyd's doesn't. It subverts the idea of a building in an interesting way.

I have to admit that I don't much like Emin's stuff - I prefer minimalism, the mediaevals and other stuff which is unconciously archaic (in modern terms) and what I've never found a better term for than abstract representations - finely detailed and usually very accurate pieces of art which are about the shape the subjects make up rather than the subjects.

Just saw a news clip about the above auction. An unmade bed with loads of crap around it, created by some tosser An artist that I cannot remember, sold for 2.2 million pounds.....WTF. My sofa must be wort at least a million then! What do others think, is it just me that thinks this is all fing crazy. I have to say that not many things irritate me, but this sort of thing gets my blood boiling.

Wasn't it in 'Thud', that Terry Pratchett satirised this piece of furniture, by stating that the Patricain, upon viewing said 'pile of rubbish', had the artists ear nailed to a piece of wood???
