Each year for the wifes birthday we go to a "posh" hotel , for the last couple of years we have been to the art decco Midlands Hotel in Morecambe, top room suite £500+ for the weekend (2 nights)
Its a once a year treat for us but if i had the money i woud be quite happy to pay when away for the quality you get.
Price is all relative, in 2002 we went to the end of the year awards for Leeds United In the Premiership, (Rio won the player of the year it but we took it back when he went to Man United , yea bitter and twisted) anyway the meal was £130 per head and we were in a tent.
In 2011 tickets were £45 per head , same meal AND in a brand new pavilion BUT in the Championship.
People will pay for what they perceive as value for money at that time.
