Our local Aldi finally got the Lebkuchen in so we had to try a pack to mack sure they were up to scratch,and they were;gonna have to restrain ourselves up until christmas I think.

A baker in Darlington, Brittons, used to make them when I was a child. They were wonderful.

They did a street taste test last year with Harrods, M&S and Aldi mince pies, Aldi seemed to be a winner

It could have done with another minute in the oven I think, note there is no free space in there now!

It ain't got no lid on
I like them without the lid, pasty to filling ratios!!! And easier to pop on some brandy butter or cream nearer Christmas! (And I can make more mince pies out of each batch of pastry!!!:hungry:) I find shop bought ones have far too much pastry to contents!
