Christmas trees - real or placky?

What kind of tree are you going to be wrapping your fairy lights around this year?

 • Real - you can't beat the smell and I can put up with the crap that falls off it

 • Plastic - better for the environment and you can reuse it every year, thus saving dosh
I forgot to add a question about whether or not tinsel is common. But I've got some on the bike, so there!
So 'yesterday'...makes it look like @richp - past its tinsel by date.

Lametta is a different thing altogether. Bobby my old dog would snaffle every bit he could...with obvious consequences.

Our greengrocer delivers a "no drop" 8-foot tree for £35. Job done.

Keep it real.
They don't drop these days and I've got a vacuum cleaner anyway.

Pine needles are one of the more sasisfying things you can vacuum up, like paper clips or small stones.
Unfortunately, our upright vacuum cleaner blows more pine needles off the tree than it sucks up, so the satisfaction quickly turns to frustration and then to "that's the bloody last year we are having a real tree".

Until next year.

As a kid I used to love the patter of pine needles on the presents when you 'accidentally' brushed against the tree. Of course that was when we had proper pine trees that dropped like no tomorrow, not this modern Nordman business. The trees of my childhood were always totally bald by Boxing Day.

I wouldn't bother with a tree if it was up to me, a few lights hung up over the fireplace for convention would see me right but as with others I'm outvoted. Artificial tree here, a big green moderately realistic looking one we've had for ages now. takes a bit to ut together and pretty up but looks nice enough once done. One of these years I'm going to try and get it back in the loft still erect and decorated. I can have my own little Christmas up there in July and pretend I'm an Australian.

We always have a plastic tree. We've had the same 5' tree for a few years and as we were moving from a flat to a house this year my OT was looking forward to having a 6' tree in front of the living room window. Once we'd moved and placed the sofas, the TV, the bookcase (full of DVDs), the display case (full of ornaments), the sideboard and the Ottoman thing (currently pretending to be a coffee table in the middle of the living room) in the living room it turned out there's no room for a tree. She doesn't want to move any of the furniture out (and there isn't really anywhere to put it except to store it somewhere) so we now have a 4' tree to go on top of the sideboard, which is in front of the window.

I'm only surprised no one has posted this yet
