In December, the shops are always packed and Christmas shopping is hell. Shops are not packed in October so why not bring Christmas forward to October and everyone will be able to do their Christmas shopping in peace?

Morrisons have had Advent calenders and chocolate Christmas santas in stock since the first week in September.

I can cope with the all year round stocking of the mince pie but, Christmas chocolate, so soon can only be on sale in the hope that the early purchases get eaten early and second purchases have to be made to meet parental contractual obligations.

6am Christmas morning at the petrol station. Sorted. My wife is always happy with her Rustlers hamburger and road atlas.

Christmas.

Apparently back in the day, one Tokyo department store, in a valiant but muddled effort to get in step with Western traditions, adorned the front of its building with a massive Santa on a cross.

Nowadays it should be Tescomas, or any other supermarket of your fancy.

I'm not a religious chap, but I usually use Christmas, out of respec' for the reason I'm having time off (yes I know it has pre-Christian origins etc, but you know well (Noel ha ha) what I mean).

I think Norm is along the right lines. The X in Xmas is an from an old language, i could remember which one so Norm probably has it. So it's not an off the wall abbreviation. however, what kind of knob pronounces it Xmas??? it should always be pronounced Christmas.

Unless your Birmingham City Council, who once tried to change it to "winterval" because of the large muslim community. Funnily enough, the muslim community didn't like it, so they changed it back

idiots.

personally, i always write Christmas.
