This thread has been the first sign of Christmas for me.

I work across the road from the famous Mong Kok Flower Market and, so far, no Xmas pine trees on sale or notices on shop windows asking people to order their trees now to avoid disappointment.

We still have the Mid-Autumn Festival (6th Oct) to get out of the way first.

Barton Grange Garden centre on the A6 near Garstang on 25th Aug.. To be fair it wasn't yet on general display but it was easy to enough to see what was going on. Pretty extensive lay out too. They also had a considerable Halloween display

Tesco Ely has a small section of Christmas snacky stuff put out. As well as stacks of the aforementioned roses / quality street / celebrations tubs.

Nestle made Quality Street "seasonal" years ago, Rowntree Mackintosh/Rowntree's kept them on sale all year. Nestle made them seasonal, and sales declined, they're now trying to up the sales.

That'd be down the road, the egg plant was just below the railway station. The bulk of next year's eggs were completed by the end of July this year.

I was buying some bread at my local mini Sainsbury's on Monday and I noticed they had hot cross buns. I bought some and very tasty they are.

I'm not sure if they're late for last Easter or early for next.

Can't think of anywhere that sells fruited buns *without* the cross on anymore. I know Waitrose used to...

Tesco's hot x buns were part of my weight downfall a year or so before the covid pandemic began, where I steadily went up to ~80Kg from ~75Kg. Bought packs far too often on my postie shifts while buying meal deals.

The other culprit to weight gain were packs of Tesco's chocolate raisins.

Both were like how I imagine crack cocaine is like to an addict!

My work often does the Christmas holiday cover in June.
The worst are people who put in annual leave requests the previous January, for the full Christmas week off.

The worst are people who put in annual leave requests the previous January, for the full Christmas week off.

We have to do that. If you want to work during that week you have to grovel. So in the first week of Jan a big chunk of your holiday allowance has gone.

There are actually good reasons behind this but it's annoying.
