True but it has been ridden and survived. I wouldn't like to try and break it, just get a feel for the quality parts and compare with what I'm used to.

Blimey - that is one full on XC bike - 10 year old carbon...flippin eck ! Some quality stuff there.

I'm well chuffed with what my XT/LX equipped steel rigid MTB can still do - pre date's any suspension systems.....

Lurvely bike there -

|ve got an ali rigid cannondale with xt wouldnt swap it for the world although the ride would be abit harsher than your steel one.

What's the advantage of having the rear triangle like that? It'd put the seat tube in bending, not a good type of loading for tubes really..

Had it all explained to me once by the clever blokes from scott. Cant remember most of it, but here goes the design is intended to transfer more power to the ground especially when climbing whilst reducing vibration thru the frame . Smells like Bull---t, to me but it works.

Proved to be bullet proof so far,and super quick across the dirt, can t ask for more than that can you?

Hee....still rather impressed with what my old steel one does.....makes you think about something newer with disks and front suspension though. Being rigid, it's lightening quick over the flat and up hill, only suffers descending (or that might be the rider)........
