I had a fantastic 50 miler today to York.
The place was heaving. It turned out it was York Races, what a sight.Never seen a big York raceday well the fashion was amazing the girls must have spent a fortune.Very smart and classy.

But what has made me mention this is.We had a rest in a park to the side of the Minster.I noticed a memorial to a battle of WW2.
1944 Battle of Kohima, never heard of it.Well i have just googled it.What a story of bravery and sacrifice. And then i have just read about Harry Patch.

We owe these men so much.

God Bless them all.

You must have got there at the start of the races. I've been there when the races have finished & on days like today, most of the women are sunburnt & either carrying there shoes, or whinging about how much their new shoes are hurting

I went on a ride to get away from the races!

Came back to discover that my 16 year old son had gone along with all his mates and had won £55 on one bet. He was not well disposed to my suggestion that he should share the proceeds with me as he'd borrowed 10 quid from me earlier in the day.

Spandex that could be done.Cos Dave my mate and me have decided to make York our regular 'quick' trip out.

We have a few ways of getting to York. But this one is far the flattest and quickest.

Shadwell to Wetherby on the main road.Wetherby racecourse onto Long Marston and bingo you are there.
A very pleasant ride.Sat 10-00am leave shadwell 11-30 in the park at the Minster.

By evening town is full of drunk race goers staggering round and worse:headshake:. Not so classy.

Living near the race course we have to put up with the litter and noise caused by people going to and from the races. Told one guy off yesterday for peeing in our street, I wouldn't have minded but he was in the beer garden of the local pub and couldn't be arsed to go to the toilet in the pub.

The ladies in their nice dresses also look lovely when they are squatting in the race course field to have a wee because they are too drunk to find the loo. That's real class that is.

Ah, York race goers, once described by comedian Ross Noble as "Mutton dressed as pig..."

Come the end of the day, their florid complexions are funny....
