Are they different to braze-on mounted shifters?

In other words, if I buy a clamp-on pair can I stick them on braze-on mounts?

Thanks in advance.

Looking at some of the Shimano tech docs it looks like they use interchangable parts but would have to do a fair bit of fettling of the Shifter. You can see that the parts inbetween the shift lever and the band/boss are different. I'm guessing other manufacturers are the same. Why not buy a cheap set off ebay and see if they strip down and fit?

I've been after a particular type for a while and have found a pair on eBay, but they're clamp-on.

I'll see what they go for and may take a punt...

Many thanks for finding that: much appreciated.

It would seem that if the supplied screws don't fit, it would just be a case of sourcing some others. As they are for a Peugeot originally fitted with Simplex levers, I would be hopeful that they would be a straight fir.

However looking at the exploded diagram, the lever stops are part of the clamp. I would need the part numbered 4080A and the other two parts between the lever and the braze-on/clamp are different too.

It's a shame, as the braze-on variety normally go for about £25, so I was hoping for a bargain.
