You could show your rebellious credentials, by joining the club but not wearing the jersey .My local Clarion clubs had rubbish jerseys so I didn't join them.

The Clarion clubs .. Always seemed to be a genuine thing to me. Socialist cycling club from the days when the Labour Party where Socialists and the Unions fought their Socialist fight for the working man.
I suppose these days the Clarion clubs are all based in Islington and north London and holiday in Tuscany in the summer ...
Seriously though ... my mum and dad where Clarion members during their brief stay in Liverpool after the war and my Uncle Ken was a lifelong member ,,,

Thanks for posting @Blue Hills . It reminded me in the early 70’s when I was in my late teens , I was introduced to and spent some time talking to an international Brigade veteran. Only years later did I fully grasp what a privilege that was .
