I’m referring to the ways they’re treated when out, not driving standards
They’re expected to clear the yard/RDC they’re in, probably not park in the industrial estate/etc, that they’ve delivered to

It was really a reference to the set up, for drivers
They can’t really drive their Scania/DAF/IVECO/etc to the nearest Lidl or wherever, in this country

Have things actually got worse not better for drivers ?
Salvesens 1977 to 2000 while I was there at their Peterborough factory, drivers were welcome to use ALL the facilities, showers, toilets, canteen, treated just like anyone else.
My last factory (still food productiin) ...brand new build, just about everything had been thought of....but they wouldn't let drivers use the facilities. They (reluctantly) made them use the small toilet and sink in the gatehouse. Pathetic, truly pathetic when I heard a senior manager when pushed to let them use the facilities...no, they have the gatehouse toilet (in other words, what more do they want ?)

It’s disgraceful how drivers are treated, an example of which Amazon at Bowburn Co Durham will not let them on site until their booking time, hence they park on the outskirts of the warehouse/Village and the locals complain about human waste on the grassed area, disgusting, but Amazon could quite easily have toilets and a coffee machine and let them in ready to be loaded/unloaded, we’re only talking a Portakabin for gawds sake

New edition came in the post today
The British truck special!

It went on sale on Friday 19th
(last month, it took 2 weeks to arrive)

Usually, we seem to only get one postal delivery per week!! (on a Friday)

After joining forces with Seddon, trucks were built in Oldham.... where this one's based

There’s a few still going, but the more modern units are making large in-roads now

Not too far from us, there’s a ‘showmans yard’, with a couple of Foden Alphas

Which in itself was a surprise, as we usually only get a delivery on a Friday
(& we’re not ‘out in the sticks’!)

It’s also a surprise that it came so soon, as it only went on sale on Friday!
