claud butler cape wrath problem :(

Hi i bought a cape wrath about a year ago and found it to be a beautiful bike until.... I wanted to put the bike in my dads car and removed the back wheel. After putting the rear wheel back on the gears kept slipping and it will not change gear or stay on one gear and is near enough un ridable . Is this a common problem and what could i do about it ? Does it have to go to the shop? Any help would be fantastic. Thankyou

I'd double check you have put the wheel back in correctly,it's easiest to loosen quick release,press down on saddle or wheel and re-tighten.
I did it once after fixing a puncture on way to work,got the rest of the way in with wheel rubbing on mudguard before I realised what had happened.

Did the derailieur bent/out of alignment?
Any washers in the wrong place?
