Use olive oil to grease a baking sheet, and any parts of the sheet that weren't covered by the pastry end up with a slightly sticky, brownish coating when the baking is done.

Any idea how to get this off without also removing the non-stick coating? Soaking and elbow grease (with a 'non-stick' scourer) don't seem to do the job.

(I know...don't use olive oil... but I've done it now!)

Fairy Power Spray is probably the best I've found.

You need a powerful alkali. Got any drain cleaner or oven cleaner? It will saponify the baked-on oil. (And the fat in your fingertips if you don't wear rubber gloves.)

I think I've got something along those lines. Will give it a try tomorrow (when the red wine in me has worn off!)

Thanks both!

Once you've got them clean (or bought new ones), get yourself a roll of the PTFE sheet from somewhere like Lakeland.

I can't find it on their website, only the pre-cut stuff, but they have it in-store. It's easy to cut, lasts for ages and we've yet to find anything which sticks to it.
