Sorry, bounces?

Bounce the bike up and down on the floor a few times.

I’ve just bought a used MTB for among other duties winter commuting, it’s getting washed weekly. Expect new cassette and chain by March.

I use one of these for a quick rinse after a muddy ride...

No use whatsoever for dried-on mud but ideal when it's still wet.

Will add... My skinny road back tyre lost grip on metal man hole covers, a couple of times.
...
Had the same with MTB tyres too. I just avoid all metalwork on the roads these days, particularly whilst cornering.

My commuter got a weekly clean. Aside from keeping it nice it meant I had to touch and closely inspect every part of the bike so was a good safety drill.

Bucket of warm water with wax car shampoo, sponges for the main parts, brushes for the gnarly parts. Rinse, wipe dry. Then Mickle the chain and cassette. Any vulnerable polished or plated parts for a spray of Duck Oil in the bad weather. Lubed as required. Took about 20 minutes once a week. I tried waxing for a while (the chain, not my legs) and although it reduced the weekly time slightly the faffing and time spent setting it up initially negated any small weekly saving so I never carried it on.

A decade on the bike looked like new, no corrosion anywhere, and Biggs gave it a new home.
