More seriuosly a bit of furniture polish/car wax over the bike after cleaning makes it easier to get the mud off next time

put on bike stand,
remove wheels
spray with muc off bike cleaner
spray wheels with muc off bike cleaner
leave to soak and have a cup of tea
rinse wheels and tyres - inspect wheels and tyres for damage
clean chain with soapy water
clear out grooves in brake pad surfaces and check for wear
rinse bike and dry with chamois leather
refit wheels
spray with muc off bicycle cleaner or WD40 and permit to dry before polishing
finish with muc off miracle shine or mr sheen and polish.
Mickle chain with Finish Line Dry lube
After every ride..
