I have a Carrera Vengance and recently did an overhaul as the chain was slipping and the bottom bracket cartridge bearing had started to make a clicking noise ,fitting new brake pads ,chain, cassette and bottom bracket cartridge bearing (Shimano BB-UN 300). All went well chain stopped slipping ,brakes where working a lot better, but the clicking has not gone. It clicks only when I pedal and if I pedal harder it sounds like a double click. I have had a good look over the crank area checked the pedals, also checked to see if any of the cable ends are catching any thing but all seems good. I have also refitted the old bottom bracket ,but no difference, so have put back the new one. So this is where I need help ,this is driving me mad. Any ideas are very welcome!

Check to see if it still happens if you are cycling out of the saddle.

Could be any number of things.
Is the chain rubbing on the front mech?
Is the indexing spot on at the cassette end?
Is the rear mech bent, or the jockey wheels worn? Is the chain threaded through the mech correctly?
Is it when you are standing and pedaling, or sitting down? Could be coming from the seat post. Take it out, clean, including inside the seat tube, grease lightly and reinsert it.
Sounds like a lot of questions, but clicks can be very hard to track down.

The good news is it's not the bottom bracket!

As @ColinJ says above, does it still happen if you're out of the saddle? If so that eliminates the bolts on the seatpost and saddle which are often annoying to diagnose. If it doesn' then tighten those bolts.

My next choice would be to run around all the other bolts and tighten them up - chainring bolts are a really common cause of noise that gets overlooked.

Does it do it in all gears? Is it synchronised with crank rotation, wheel rotation or neither? What if you don't pedal, but bounce around on the pedals a bit?

Have you got anyway of getting the bike off its wheels, ie lifted of the ground enough to turn the cranks and wheels to try and pinpoint there the clicks are coming from? Or turn the cranks backwards to see if it happens when back pedaling?
