I've discovered that seatposts can make a noise even when you aren't seated. Presumably frame flexes and tube contacts end of seatpost in frame. Bit of grease fixes it.

It isn't an Al-frame with carbon seat stays, is it? It seems like the junction between the two components can creak/click in normal use. It seems that it's a particular problem with Ribble frames of this type. A quick squirt of WD40 on the joint gives a temporary fix.

Up date: the noise stops when it rains. The seat post is well greased the bottom bracket is new and I have tried two sets of SPDs and it still makes a noise. I am now looking for a ghost.
