Clipless moment but still grinning :-)

Im sure your all bored hearing me going on about my new Scott so promise this is the last.

Got out for a 35 miler this morning and loved it.Its hard to believe the difference as my Trek was no slouch for a hybrid.

Starting to get more confident clipping in and out had one embarrasing roll over .Pulled into a sheltered doorway of a pub to wait and see if the rain would stop (it did a minute later) acknowledged the cleaner working inside through the window. On pulling away again probably put off by the cleaner watching me made an arse of it and did a dying fly gentle roll over to the right ,managed to keep the bike off the ground and rolled onto my shoulder quite gracefully I thought. Cleaner is now in fits of laughter so I bowed but declined her request for an encor.

I think the bike is fantastic even if the rider doesnt do it justice .Slicing through bends down in the drops feeling like a TDF hero then up the other side of the valley in the granny ring feeling like a knackered middle aged bloke again

My thoughts to anyone thinking of going from Hybrid to Road is do it you will love it.

i remeber doing similar things 3 years ago when i fist clipped in, laying on the pavement outside the post office thinking to myself ,what is going to hurt most my ear? my knee, or my pride? then as people gathererd around to help by laughing heartily i realised i have no pride

I very nearly had my first one this morning - too busy concentrating in getting the gears down before I stopped at a red light ready for the restart. Its only a matter of time So long as the bikes OK thats the main thing

The knackered bit is not what I wanted to hear. I'm gonna get myself a road bike in spring and I was hoping the lack of weight (current bike weighs 22kg) would make itself noticed in the form of easy rides up hills!
Congrats on a graceful clipless moment. My own was a wobbly embarrasment which, despite my eventually saving the situation, meant I ended up with a leg over the crossbar and one on the deck after the left shoe finally came free...slap bang in the middle of a junction trying to turn right..good grief!

Been clipless for a while now and haven't had another since, so I just forget about the next time (there will be one) and just enjoy what I'm doing.

Had one a few days ago myself lol,though had the good sence to be in a park,saw a huge dog eyeing me up,braked to slow and cut across the grass,went to put my foot down and couldnt clip out...fell over to my left on to grass....very strange falling off something your still connected too....lol...but getting there....

Don't worry...I used to do it regularly on the pavement outside home...... most of the scratches on my best bike/components were stupid incident's like that.. (PS it's 18 years old.....)

Norman, you are scaring me now, do you know me? I have a habit of wearing skirts at the most inappropriate times

Like Jane and The Jogger, I have also asked for pedals and shoes for Xmas, I can see myself sitting on the bike , in the hallway, clipping in and out for hours trying to get the feel for them. But no doubt I will still make an a*se of myself on the road.

I went out on my flat pedals this morning and it felt strange - I felt as though my feet were slipping all the time - its amazing how quickly the clipless becomes second nature (and then you fall off

When you've mastered clipless it's then essential to go fixed wheel. Instead of having a 'clipless moment' you can have a 'fixed wheel moment'. This is where you forget you're on a fixed wheel bike and try to free wheel. I'm not sure which 'moment' is worse.

I was right for once. Half a mile into this mornings pre dawn 12 miler I slowed down at a mini roundabout to let a lorry go past (could have got out safely and legaly but then he would have had to overtake me and there are a couple of pinch points after the roundabout).

I uncliped my left foot, and then promptly went over to my right. Luckily there was no car behind me. Credit to the HGV driver he slowed down the other side of the island to see if I was OK (either that or he had to stop while he recovered from pi$$ing himself).

I got up nearly as quickly as I went down - isn't adrenaline super stuff

Bike seems to be OK which is the main thing.
