co2 leaks from a tyre!

Recently switched to carrying CO2 instead of a pump on my commute to avoid taking a rucksack everyday.

Looking at this whist searching for some spare cannisters and found this..

Because CO2 leaks out of a rubber inner tube more rapidly than air would (despite its larger size, the CO2 molecule is slightly soluble in rubber), the tire goes flat within a few days.

If you have the space at work then a cheap Lidl pump can be a life saver. I carry a pocket rocket on the bike, not super powerful but will get it up to 40psi so you can ride on.

Another reason i carry a "proper " pump, assuming your bike has bottle mounts most pumps have offset mounts so you can still carry a bottle if needed.
I carry a road morph in a pannier bag or a topeak blaster in an offset mount on a weekend ride, saves worrying about having cannisters if heavan forbid muliple flats happen.

Thing is. If you've used CO2, it's because 'she' has visited. Part of my usual routine is to check my tyres the night before I ride. As part of that post p* paranoia I'd be ensuring I did this religiously. I'll accept a few lbs deflation as a norm and top-up, with the trackpump.
I've never known a flat tyre a few days after a CO2 fill, without it being a second visit from 'her'.....
I also carry a mini pump and I'm shifting my 2nd trackpump to work

Same here - pump at home, 2xco2 carried, spare co2 at work.

Beause of this problem I always let the CO2 out of the tyre when I get home and reinflate with air (from my electric pump).

CO2 inflators are great for on-the-road use and I usually take one, but I carry a mini pump as well as a precaution.

Out on the road I always inflate tyres with CO2, but otherwise use a track pump. Can't say I've ever noticed CO2 'leaking', but then I can't say I've had a single puncture since I changed my name to Robert Johnson and went down to the crossroads.

I usea track pump at home, on a ride I carry a pump with gauge I bought I think in Aldi. It has a switch so you can change from high volume to high pressure and with a bit of effort you can get a tyre over 100psi. It doesnt weigh too much and is compact enough to fit into a Jersey pocket. Cost well under a tenner. As a result I haven't gone down the co2 route.

Interesting, I bought myself one of these a week ago, and tested it on my rear wheel , which had been stored for the winter, and I was ready to go back on the road bike.
So I tried last Sunday on the rear wheel, inflated in 2 seconds.

Been to work and back all week on the same tyre inflated. 160 miles. Its still up...........
