I don't drink a lot of coffee but when on holiday found myself really enjoying the hotel machine coffee....... ended up having a cup every morning after breakfast. My favourite was espresso (sometimes double) with milk.
Instant coffee I only really drink when I feel the need of a shot of wake up juice.
So..............I have been looking at the cheaper end of machines on offer.
Curry's have 3 Bosh Tassimo on offer as follows..............
Tassimo Joy. was £120.00.............now £60.00
Tassimo Sunny. was £120.00.........now £50.00
Tassimo T55 Charmy. was £130.......now £50.00.
So..............
Any recommendations.
Any thoughts on those offers
Any comments on pod machines in general.

The coffee ain't that great either, but it seems to be good enough for most people's tastes.

If you like espresso but don't want to spend a fortune on a proper espresso machine, get an Aeropress:

We have a Tassimo machine but we don't use now as the pods seem to be a bit expensive now days, In the end we bought a Sage manual machine.

I think they make great coffee and are very convenient to use.
At the heart of them, they're all the same, so even the cheapest one will give you the same great coffee. All that differs are some features such as tank size and of course, cappacino attachments. Decide if you need that or not.

I have a big Saeco bean-to-cup machine at home and I don't think I can match the taste of a pod machine. However, the cost on the Saeco is much less per cup. Let's pretend that the capital outlay doesn't matter.

I bought one of these but I managed to get it for £11 at the time, which I thought was a great price!

I buy bags of Italian Blend ground coffee from Lidl for not-a-lot and it is good enough for me. (Having said that, I must try some of the others that they sell to see what I think of them. I did try the French Blend when they were out of Italian but it was a bit weaker so I stuck with the Italian after that.)

I'm very happy with my Dolce Gusto. Coffee tastes good to me.

It's clean and easy to use. Quick.

Machine is cheap and the pods are expensive. But I only have one a day so when you work it out it is better value than an expensive machine and buying beans. And a load less faff and hassle

I have a Nespresso. Love it. The pods (snigger) are recyclable with the aluminium cans.

I was on a similar journey with a view to buying a proper espresso machine. I'd not have bought a nespresso as I dislike the waste and being locked in to a system. Anyhow all the coffee geek (or is it coffee bores) websites said "the grinder's the thing" so I gritted my teeth and bought a proper cafe style refurbished Mazzer Super Jolly grinder off fleabay for (ouch !) about £300; more than double that new. Do you know what? The grinder really is the thing and several years later have yet to buy the matching espresso machine and I'm still using my Italian Mocha pot on the stove. Just grinding beans freshly for each cup, using a prope lr grinder, really makes a difference

Did you read the article? It says he "invented" the popular USA version of the pods, but the nespresso is a decade an a half older. So he's only the inventor if you are talking about k-cups.

At the heart of them, they're all the same,
Are they? Espresso requires pressure and temperature. Surely not all the machines can produce 9 bars of pressure, and surely at least some of them can?
