Coffee Machines (pod type)........which one (or any other suggestions)

My wife loves the coffee machine I bought for her. It was a big outlay at the beginning, but she hasnt visited a coffee shop since it was purchased. After 3 months of ownership, I would say that we are easily at break even point versus coffee shop prices that she would have spent.

Get a small domestic coffee bean mill from Zassenhaus for around £70 and grind your own beans. Works out cheapest, best tasting coffee and you're not wasting resources like those pods etc.. Mill will last you a lifetime. You can get a one cup filter funnel for around £20 or a stove top mocha for the same.

Another vote for the Aeropress, just add a bit of cold water to the kettle so it's well off the boil. Clean, simple, and very low maintenance.

I'm very happy with my Dolce Gusto. Coffee tastes good to me.

It's clean and easy to use. Quick.

Machine is cheap and the pods are expensive. But I only have one a day so when you work it out it is better value than an expensive machine and buying beans. And a load less faff and hassle

I have one as well. I buy the pods when they are on offer. As you say, easy to use, easy to clean and doesn't take up a lot of space. And not expensive to buy the machine either.

Are you sure? Most recycling schemes don't take them.

Or they have to go back to the manufacturer.

The Philips Senseo uses a pod that's like a teabag so isn't entirely planet-busting. The coffee is OK and it's very convenient, but since the machine fubared itself, we've switched to a cafetiere.

We have a lavazza amodo mio. Pods are about 40p each and only available online. Nice coffee compared to instant and the milk warmer/whisk is excellent. Whatever you buy, just check price and availability of pods. I actually prefer ours to a caffetiere or costa.

I bought a La Pavoni hand press espresso maker 3+ years ago off ebay to replace a Tassimo, and a decent grinder, as advised above to match to it.
Closest I'll ever get to being James Bond

Ours has been fantastic, bit fiddly changing the re-usable filter 'pod' thingy but it will take a version of the 'single cup' cartridge and the milk frother steam arm works well.

Got a Tassimo Vivy(?) which is the smallest one and it does me fine.
Pods can be pricey at full whack but are often on offer so just stock up then. Or as mentioned up thread there are the pot luck "50 pods for a tenner" or whatever offers at various online stores fairly often too - and who knows what they can include?

Coffee tastes good to me, and it's a darn sight cheaper than the £5 that I got stiffed for a latte in Birmingham last week...

My coffee machine is awaiting the arrival of a maintenance chappy (I'm reliably informed he's a he) and whilst Friday approaches very slowly, I've been using a stove top espresso, which is still far better than any coffee pod machine I've ever tried and not as messy as a cafetiere.

I got a Delonghi machine a few years ago, half price at £80 from Currys. Wasn't sure if it would get used, or just be a fad. It gets used at least twice a day & it's ok. I'll probably buy a better one when it dies, but I've certainly had my moneys worth out of it

& for the last few months I've been using Percol Black & Beyond coffee, which is quite strong, but no biterness & only about £1.50 for a 227g bag from Home bargains. Cheap as chips

Did you read the article?

Yes. The recycling problem applies to all brands of pods, regardless of when they were invented or by whom - including the Tassimo system favoured by the OP.

I've got a Tassimo pod machine. The best thing about it is that it also makes hot chocolate, which is nice, because I'm allergic to caffeine.

Sounds like you don't know how to use your B2C machine properly.

You are right. With so many buttons to press, I think I've been pressing the hot water button all this time. Maybe that's why the coffee is weak.
