I just meant generally, I don't know your *exact* circumstances, how can I? I wouldn't take it all so literally, but at the same time, I have heard similar things over the years and it always makes me wonder.
Of course, you could be like me where nobody calls, and its probably largely cold callers on your landline anyway (answering will confirm your existence), but, and maybe it is just me, but I find totally ignoring a phone/people contacting me just a bit...... Well, odd, I mean, aren't you just a bit curious to know what it is?

Its a bit like the 'ignore' function on here. I am told when an ignored member posts something on a thread I am looking at, and I have the chance to look at it. Sometimes curiosity gets the better of me and I have to see what I am trying to ignore, albeit from a distance!:laugh:

To be honest, I think I am just impressed by your complete logic to the problem. Could I do it?? Probably not as I would always wonder about people who are genuine in some form or another (as to how is another question) and hey, I am too curious, but, the screen on the phone helps give a rough idea of who is calling anyway.

Didn't take it personally just answered from my perspective, and no I'm weird in that I don't get curious I have the ability to compartmentalize 90% of my life which helps when applying logic to things it's just the way I've always been, the missus says I'm autistic and have OCD lol

I've often been tempted to use their number to sign up for as many 'free' things on the Internet that I can...

Just came across this, for PPI cold callers:

Caller "I am calling about your accident"
You "Oh yes, I have been suffering from memory loss"
Caller (now excited at prospect of a sale) "How long ago was your accident"
You "Accident? I've had an accident? I can't remember, I'm afraid. I've been suffering from memory loss..."
(Continue as long as you please.)

I don't understand; we are on TPS and we seldom get these calls, probably less than one a month.

And the telecoms supplier would have no difficulty setting up a general switchboard number to a direct line to show as the calling number. result, total anonymity.
This is exactly what our local police force does now, whoever calls you and from whatever station or office, you get exactly the same generic number and it does not receive incoming calls which is a PITA if the person leaves you no message or no direct dial number back to them.

PPI isn't anything to do with accidents?
