Cold commute

Yes, it's that awkward time of the year. Set of in just fleecy lycra and be freezing for the first few miles, or bang on the jacket and come to a slow boil on the 2nd half of the commute. At least in a few more weeks we'll be in proper Winter and there'll only be the one choice. Yip di dee.

Dorset has been hot (for the time of year). Heating is struggling to come on, plenty of commuters still in shorts.

Today was weird.Nil wind this morning.....nil this afternoon and completely vertical rain, yet a weather system moving across from the SW. (but no SW winds).

Its been dead warm in darkest Dorset. Windy tho along the coast. Looking colder tho next week. I've been to aldi tho so I should be ok now!

It always feels -1 at 4.45am :cold:
Had a very light hailstone shower on way home today, but the rain this morning was more of a problem :rain:

Just seen they have given a weather warning out for Manchester tomorrow, high winds, hail and sleet, with a chance of snow.
Oh joy, better get the Goretex out :rain:

And the hail hurt !
It certainly did!! Was a pretty miserable one today.

On the plus side, my reputation in the office has now shifted. Those who admire my two wheeled commutes now think I'm a legend for braving the elements at their worst. However those who always thought I was off my rocker have now had it confirmed to them

4 degrees C on my way in this morning, coldest it's been so far.

Bit stuck for things to wear in these kind of conditions. What I currently have is:

Summer gear - shorts, ss tops: 15 C +
Autumn gear - 3/4 shorts, long sleeve tops: 5-15 C
Winter gear - Baselayer longs, thermal top, jacket, overtrousers: -15 to 0C

I seem to lack gear to fit the 0-5 degrees bracket! Everything's too warm or too cold

0 deg (-3 wind chill) best described as 'bracing'. Light dusting of snow and ice covering the puddles. Kept to the roads that had been gritted this morning, not as nice as my normal 'traffic free' route. Safety first.
