Glad you and bike are relatively Ok, only ridden that road a couple of times and it didn't seem particularly pleasant to me, and that was on a Sunday afternoon.

Following advice i received here in the event of a "collision" i would be doing the following ..
Assuming the bike is damaged take it to the LBS for a check up and quote for repair .
Document any injuries and aches etc and if they are getting worse take photographic evidence along with follow up doctors visits .
If you suffer any long term affects you might need to claim for travel expenses, loss of earnings from time off work through injury or visits to the doctors and cost of treatments .
I found that a recommended cycle lawyer was not interested in any claim less than £1000 so it is worth keeping a not of everything as it could soon add up.

Er... that's where I was headed! Well, MRI walk-in centre. I've been to MRI A&E before, when I broke my foot last year falling up some stairs- wasn't too bad but it was early on a Sunday morning!
Argh, I never use that road - always A34 into town.

In rush hour, it's pretty busy! In the mornings from Stockport into Manchester I use the A6, however in the evenings I take Wilmslow Road. I'd consider using the A34, but it's a faster road, so I feel more vulnerable.

Yes, TBH I've never had a morning problem on Wilmslow Road, it's normally quite good as most cars are heading straight into town and none of the shops/restaurants are open yet, but at night it can be a nightmare. I think I'll try leave earlier and avoid later on.
For me it's easier to get onto the back route (of which part is cycle-only) than the A34, but it will take me a bit longer.
Update on the arm: I did go to the walk-in at MRI yesterday, who then sent me to A&E, it's just bruised although they did take an x-ray to be sure! Took quite a while, glad I had a book!!
PS: they ask whether you were wearing a helmet when you tell them what happened... (ducks)

I'm usually pottering along there around 7am, and generally it's fine.
The evening is a bit of a 'mare (I leave between 4pm and 4:20pm). The one upside is that the motor traffic is slow, the speed of it over on the A34 is not for me. IME, not expecting to make a good speed, and erring on the side of caution is the way to go through Rusholme.
Ha! Yes, it makes me laugh that. As the nurse was cleaning up my road rashed elbow when I was hit by a bus (an incident where my head got closer to the ground, admittedly, but nowhere near the proximity my elbow and hip suffered), he said "At least you were wearing a helmet" in a looking on the bright side sort of a way

Oh, and I discovered two broken spokes on my wheel from Sunday's crash, and after replacing them two more broke, probably because I'm not a wheelbuilder.

My hand got squashed between the car and my brake lever. It tingled afterwards but there is no pain in it. I am not bothering reporting it or getting my hand checked out because the police will have the typical "no damage or injury then we dont care" attitude towards it.

are your brakes set up properly? I would have thought you could have stopped in that amount of space and at that speed.
Just because you think the police won't do anything about it, isn't a reason not to do it, quiet clearly there was contact and thus by your above logic they will look into it.

Well TBH I felt like my brakes should have given me more, I tried them afterwards and they worked fine so I dont know what went wrong.
I am tired of relying on the police to have a little word with the driver. Unless there is a real reason for their involvement, I see no point in reporting the driver. I would not class this incident as something the police would pursue. Remember the incident where the van driver got out of his van and gave me abuse? I reported that and have heard nothing back from the PCO who spoke to me.
