Come on, Audi drivers, pull it together!

Twice today on a road with pinch points, a car behind me held back a few metres so I didn't feel any pressure. They waited until there was plenty of room to pass which they did in a wide radius, giving 2m or more of space. They got the big @jefmcg thumbs up, but then as they passed I saw this

WTF, Audi drivers? The road is a finely tuned ecosystem. We all have our roles. If Audi drivers become careful, considerate road users then what next? Bus drivers stop playing leap frog? Cabbies no longer trying to force you out of the bus lane? It will be chaos on the road if we don't all stick to our niches.

Even decent people drive Audi's, it's no surprise really.

Never had the idea that Audi drivers were particularly bad/arrogant from my cycling experience. Better on average than your average London cyclist possibly. In fact I seem to remember that years ago they ran an ad portraying Audi drivers as relaxed/considerate.

Declaration: I used to drive an Audi. Wrote it off. Crashed it into a police car.

Somebody ordered me a taxi for a work thing. My stomach dropped when I saw it was from Adison-Lee.

He was literally the most careful and considerate driver I have ever encountered. Stereotypes eh?

I have to admit to having a vested interest in this thread because I have recently become an Audi owner

On one level, it is an amazing piece of modern technology. On another level, it has some features that begin to make you wonder 'Why would you even think of making it do that?'

I also have to admit that in general I rate Audi drivers as the most self-interested, inconsiderate and downright dangerously unflinching drivers on the road, almost like a BMW driver, but going out of their way to prove their BMW credentials!

The people who really annoy me are those in poncy cheap cars who have no driving confidence. They pull out in front of me from a side road then just look at me in their rear view mirrors.

At least the Audi drivers pull out and accelerate out of my way.

I passed a BMW with a sticker on it's window today. The sticker looked professional, but just used a simple font so I suspect he'd designed it himself and got it printed. It said:

I'D RATHER PUSH THIS BMW

THAN DRIVE AN AUDI

Which made me laugh, then made me think**. And what I thought was "Wait, you expect your BMW to breakdown?" I don't think that was the intended message.

I also drive one of those four ringed vehicles you mention and would like to think that I too am a considerate driver and give my fellow cyclists plenty of room and courtesy.

Jesus would have drove a Lancia Delta Integrale WRC. God however, rides a single speed Specialised S Works. Make of that what you will:huh:.
