Comedy cycle lane in Leatherhead

Over of YACF, someone has posted pictures of some would-be-hilarious-if-they-weren't-so-ludicrous white lines recently painted in Leatherhead.

Maybe they were supposed to remain under wraps until the beginning of next month...

The crazy world of Leatherhead

I cycle that route most days and it's not just the bike lane that's a bit odd. Part of the process was to paint double yellow lines to stop congestion due to parking. At the worst pinch point the lines stop for about a car's length making the rest of the lines pointless.

Could this be a rather unfunny piece of vandalism or is it legit? As don't they normally spray down the bikes using a template? That one looks like it's been freehanded.

It doesn't look wide enough for the template though.

They really had to distort the front wheel to squeeze the bike picture into the pathetically thin lane!

Almost certainly legit, but contractors do not always correctly interpret designs. In addition, you must also remember that some designs are so woeful they appear to be an April Fools'.

Most cycle symbols are hand painted.

Thankfully I didn't have to use that cycle lane when I used to commute to Leatherhead
