i attended the fracture clinic today and the consultant wants to see me again in 2 months. he told me not to ride the bike until then, at which point i explained that my injury was caused by a training accident, not by me arbitrarily falling off. i also explained that i was concerned about putting weight on and my cholesterol level rising.

he then said i could ride for leisure, not sport.

result

riding 3" from the bloke in front and getting distracted by a café across the road, resulting in sitting by the side of the road with a fractured shoulder ligament.

the point i made was that i could avoid doing that again without having to eschew cycling altogether…

Just carry on, that's what I did....with the help of physio. So long as you don't fall off on it until it's repaired and gained strength......

Doctors know bugger all about Sport injuries. Just 'cos you can use it, doesn't mean it's up to the job for sport... they veiw the population as couch potatoes anyway....

Looks as though I'm going to have to go private to get my shoulder looked at - getting nowhere with the NHS... I'm also pee'd off with the BC solicitor at the moment as they aren't responding to messages or emails....and I've got a report due from an independant consultant...

Anyway, take it easy, get out on the bike, push it a bit with hills, rest if it get's worse but no Macc Forrest  until you are sure it's OK - that was my shoulder test last year.........Standing Stones, up to Cat and Fiddle Pub, on Cat and Fiddle Road, down to Lamaload, Bollington and Potts Shrigley....lots of 1 in 4 / 1 in 5's .....
