This is the end of my route to work.

I used to cycle Lancaster st to Albion st then onto St. Nichola street and there was an entrance to the retail park car park just there. Then they decided to knock down one of the main units and block off the entrance to make way for yet another Asda. But it was ok because the little white road that leads to the Roadhouse was a short cut, then I could do a few yards on the pavement and into the carpark that way.
Came home tonight and they've completely blocked that whole end off.
I had to come out onto London Road, marked as the A6, into rush hour traffic, along a now-you-see-me-now-you-don't cycle path and down to the lights to come back on myself for St Nicholas street.
I detest cycling along this particular stretch of road. I do it every other week or so if I've been into town before work as it runs direct from town centre to work.
Just this morning I had a near miss on there with a pair of old dears who clearly couldn't see a thing - wasn't helped by the fact that when I passed them at the lights (used the ASL to my advantage) my trouser leg yanked my bottle from the cage and I had to emergency stop.
Coming home tonight some dozy blonde in a ford cougar (think it's called) pulled almost straight into me and blocked the cycle path.
I don't think I've ever passed incident free on that one tiny stretch, and I am not happy that it now forms part of my regular commute.
rant over.
thank you.

If that's where i think it is (the hill in front of Halfords) then that's a nasty bit of road to cycle on. I've found crossing it hard enough before.

Where are they outting the new Asda to block of the access? I thought there was already an ASDA in that retail park.

Ah, ok. If you zoom in on London road you can see it. lol.

That's it mcshroom - but not going up the hill, going towards the city centre. Hate, hate that road. A colleague of mine was knocked off his bike a little further up not long ago, has had best part of a month off with his injuries and realised after the incident that his frame is buckled!!
The Asda is going at the end where MFI was, they're knocking down Burger King. There is a small Asda, this is going to be a bigger one.
They're putting a new lane for traffic in too, but I think that means we lose a stretch of cycle path into the bargain.
Get letter writing or sending emails, there may be others experiencing similar problems. The local cycle campaigning group may be able to help, they will not be able to resolve the problem but should know who to approach. They should welcome you as a supporter too!

The people behind cycle carlisle are at best crazy and at worst not interested. Apologies in advance if anyone here is involved with them, but that has been my experience thus far.
I'm thinking I may just get off and push along the pavement today - if they haven't closed that off aswell.

In the scheme of things it's not the worst thing to happen,I'll be over it by the weekend.

certainly worth chasing... If heaven forbid something happens, then they can't make some claim they weren't warned.......... Is that the same for peds, that they have to walk all that way round ? if not, i'd just either 'quick on the pavement' or walk the thing...... Stupid clowns...

There is a footpath, it's blocked at one end, but has pedestrian access.
I've been walking the pavement past couple of days, it's not so bad.
