Fabulous! How's it ride?
 
Nineties MTBs make some of the finest tarmac terrorists. Tough, comfy, wide gearing, and fast on the right tyres.

My Trek 800 Sport was bought for a daily 10-mile commute, it did well, and is still going strong. Is everything you describe. Was my last ride, in fact.

PS: OP: that's an absolute cracker. What are those pedals? Look like a nice intermediate between flats and clips.
