To be honest I can't say I've noticed a huge difference between the Genesis Chromoly and the 725 when I tried the Eq. Perhaps more noticeable on longer rides.
Mine is pretty light even with mudguards and rack (discs would add a little, running Sram which is a little lighter than the equiv Shimano)

Find an older /preloved version of the Gen Eq 20 disc?

I've been searching for the last couple of months but nothing suitable has come up. I'd need a size S, ideally XS.

Thanks @vickster!

Sorry, I know I'm being really picky and that's a really good deal but not a big fan of the 2017 colour scheme...
If I found a used one at a lower price I'd consider adding a new paintjob to the budget.

Probably not much help but I bought a second hand steel Spa Audax about 4 years ago. It may not set your pulse racing but it will do everything, shopping trips, 100 mile day rides and multi day touring trips. If I could get a titanium framed one with 105 and decent wheels for near a grand, I’d be up to Harrogate in my van smartish.

Yeah it is too black probably. You won’t find a 2017 cheaper

Frameset and do a build?

If I was to go down this route I'd let the LBS do the work as I don't have the patience/room/tools necessary to deal with a full build.

Anyone in London you'd recommend/trust with this? Condor seem to be knowledgeable and trustworthy but prices are very much on the steep side.

I know there are plenty other bike shops but I always get the feeling staff doesn't give a shoot and/or is only trying to sell what's best for them!

Any experience with Cloud 9 (http://www.cloud9cycles.com)?

Nope. I don’t have any experience of central London shops

When I was considering it for my Ti, Sigma in Kingston were fairly reasonable. Around £150 iirc (in the end it was no cheaper than just have Spa do the full build)

London Bicycle workshop are genesis dealers (close to Condor) their hourly charge is £50 which is similar to Sigma

Those were already part of my shortlist but thanks for the suggestions never the less.

I find that staff can be a bit pushy at times when dealing with LBW.
